1998

Established in 1998.

In 1998, Webjet began as a small start-up seeking to disrupt traditional norms in the highly competitive online travel industry. In just over 10 years, Webjet OTA became the #1 OTA in the Australian and New Zealand market. Our success was fuelled by a culture founded on customer focus, innovation, and creativity.

2013

Expanding into Travel Trade distribution (B2B).

We took this culture overseas in 2013 when we established WebBeds in Dubai, and again sought to disrupt the industry, although this time in B2B travel trade (wholesale) distribution. In just over 6 years, WebBeds became the #2 global B2B provider.

2016

Expanding Consumer Travel Offering.

And then in 2016, we acquired GoSee (then Online Republic) as we saw a company with massive potential, with a culture that was extremely similar to ours and with established leadership positions in their travel B2C travel verticals.

Smart tech to enhance our OTA offering.

We acquire Trip Ninja, a travel tech business providing complex travel itinerary automation technology, that will allow the Webjet OTA to offer highly competitive, complex multi-stop travel itineraries. Trip Ninja’s proprietary technology improves content efficiency so that travel intermediaries can achieve their goals faster, and more profitably, using sophisticated machine learning technology and AI-driven algorithms.

Webjet Group demerges from Web Travel Group.

In 2024, Webjet Group demerged from the Web Travel Group (formerly Webjet Limited) creating two independent and simplified companies, improving our ability to pursue independent strategic priorities and growth agendas relevant to our businesses.

Webjet OTA Startup

In 1998, we began as a small start-up, and one of the first OTA’s in the Australian market, seeking to disrupt traditional norms in the highly competitive online travel industry

2004

A world first for Webjet OTA

Webjet OTA brings to market the world’s first Travel Services Aggregation technology, bringing together multiple travel products for distribution to consumers.

2004

Industry first domestic matrix presentation & Jetstar integration

Webjet OTA developed an industry first domestic matrix presentation & integrates Jetstar as a low-cost carrier via application programming interface (API)

2005

Industry first knowledge engine

Webjet OTA launched an industry first knowledge engine, allowing customers to self-serve and resolve queries

2006

Industry first international flight matrix

Webjet OTA developed an industry first international matrix, allowing mix and match of fares for international short haul routes

2009

Taguchi Marketing Acquisition

Webjet Limited acquires 20% of Taguchi Marketing, a provider of data driven marketing automation solutions to global companies. The $200k investment made in FY09 has yielded an 8x return.

2010

Webjet OTA becomes #1

Webjet becomes the #1 OTA in Australia and New Zealand.

2011

Cloud Migration & Gift Cards Launched

Webjet OTA commenced migration to the cloud, and launched launched gift cards.

2012

Points earn & burn partnership with FlyBuys

Webjet OTA launched points earn and burn partnership with Flybuys.

2015

Webjet integrate Scoot & Air Asia

Webjet OTA integrated Scoot and AirAsia as low-cost carriers via API

2016

Online Republic acquisition

Webjet acquires Online Republic, a market leader in the attractive online car hire, motorhome and cruise segments.

2017

Points partnership with NAB Rewards

Webjet OTA launched Points Burn partnership with NAB Rewards

2018

Webjet introduces Machine Learning technology, integrate Cebu

Webjet OTA introduced the first machine learning algorithms and set of APIs to capitalise on rich data points and personalise opportunities for customers. Webjet OTA integrated Cebu as a low-cost carrier via API.

2019

Key agency partnership with Qantas

Webjet OTA became a key agency partner for the Qantas NDC program

2020

Introduce self-serve flight changes + Sustainable Traveller program

Webjet OTA delivered self-serve flight changes, enabling customers to view pricing and real-time confirmation for flight changes + launches the Sustainable Traveller Program, enabling carbon offsets for flights, shortly followed by hotels

2020

Apple Pay, Google Pay + Frequent Flyer status based seat selection

Webjet OTA integrate Apple Pay and Google Pay + status-based seat selection options for Qantas and Velocity Frequent Flyer members

2021

Webjet acquires Trip Ninja

Trip Ninja provides complex travel itinerary automation technology that will allow the Webjet OTA to offer highly competitive, complex multi-stop travel itineraries.

Online Republic becomes GoSee

Online Republic rebranded to became GoSee, operating the consumer brands of Airport Rentals and Motorhome Republic + GoSee awarded the industry sector CRM Award for Online Support Services

2022

Trip Ninja goes live on Webjet OTA

Trip Ninja went live on Webjet OTA delivering real price advantages for customers booking multi-stop international itineraries

2023

Carbon Zero Certification

This year we became a Toitū ‘net carbonzero’ certified organisation, and are part of a collective of organisations leading the way to a low carbon future.

Webjet Klook partnership + Zip Pay

Webjet OTA launched Klook partnership to offer customers further choices to book experiences and activities + adds Zip as a payment option, making a total of 15 payment methods available to customers

2024

Webjet launch's Qantas domestic via NDC

Webjet OTA launched domestic flights on Qantas Airlines via NDC channel

Webjet launch's Singapore Airlines via NDC

Webjet OTA launched Singapore Airlines via NDC channel
